Disease rarely strikes a strong plant out of nowhere. It moves in where a plant is already weakened or crowded.
Fungus and plant disease feel like bad luck, something that lands from the sky and ruins a crop. Look closer and there is almost always a reason. The spores are everywhere all the time. They only take hold when a plant is stressed, crowded, or sitting in the wrong conditions.
Most plant disease starts with a stressed plant. Fix the conditions and you prevent far more than any spray can cure.
Air and Space Stop Most Fungus
Most fungal disease needs still, damp air and leaves that stay wet. Give your plants room to breathe and the problem often never starts.

Rotate and Diversify
Diseases build up when the same crop sits in the same spot year after year. Move your crops around and mix them up, and you break the cycle before it can take hold. Variety in the bed is as protective against disease as it is against pests.
